Our Discovery Flight is your first step into the exciting world of aviation. This 60-minute flight lesson with a certified flight instructor includes:

  • Preflight Briefing: Familiarize yourself with aircraft documents, weather checking, route preparation, and aeronautical decision making. Perform the aircraft preflight check with your instructor.
  • In-Flight Training: Take command as the Pilot in Command, learn checklist procedures, basic flight maneuvers, and communicate with Air Traffic Control. Enjoy breathtaking views from the sky.
  • Post-Landing: Receive an evaluation of your flight and skills, and learn how to fill out the aircraft logbook and documents.

FAQ's

Requirements only include that you are proficient in English and Math. You must be at least 16 years of age and you will be required to obtain a medical certificate from an authorized examiner before your solo flights.

To obtain your private pilot certification you are required to have a minimum of 40 hours of pilot training, including 10 hours of solo flight time. At Skyline Flight School, we work around your schedule, allowing you to control the pace of your training. Depending on your desired timeline, you can earn your pilot certificate in a few weeks. Share your preferred timeline with us, and we will work diligently to help you achieve your goals.

Training at Skyline Flight School is an exciting and comprehensive journey. You'll start with one-on-one ground lessons with your instructor, covering essential topics like navigation, meteorology, aeronautical mechanics, aerodynamics, and medical factors. In the air, you'll learn and master fun yet challenging maneuvers such as steep turns, stall recoveries, ground reference maneuvers, forward and side slips, and emergency landings. You'll also plan and fly cross-country trips to various amazing destinations across California to include places like San Diego, Santa Barbara, Palm Springs and more, these will also include night flights. As part of your training, you'll fly solo for 10 hours before taking your private pilot checkride to receive your private pilot certification. You'll also learn the basics of flying solely by reference to instruments. At Skyline Flight School, we are dedicated to providing a thorough and enjoyable training experience that prepares you for a successful aviation career.
